Erik Nissen Johansen

Erik Nissen Johansen is the founder and creative director of Stylt Trampoli AB in Goteborg Sweden, an award winning concept development, interior architecture, design and marketing company specialised in the hospitality industry.

For twenty years Erik and his team at Stylt have created a numerous amount of significant hotels and restaurants in Scandinavia and around the world. Klaus K Helsinki, The Hilton Trafalgar London, Le Rouge Stockholm, Stenungsbaden Yacht Club Stenungsund, Hard Rock Café Oslo, Goteborg and Stockholm, Friendship Bay Beach Resort SVG West Indies and Lydmar Hotel Stockholm just to mention a few. All together his involvement sums up to more than 150 hotels, 200 restaurants and several destination developments.

Erik and his team work under the conviction that the hospitality industry is a part of the experience economy and therefore believe that “you need to create the script before you make the film”. This approach to Storytelling and script writing as a base for the concept development has been proven to deliver very profitable and startling hotels and restaurant brands.

Erik is also the author of the book Storytelling as a marketing tool for the experience economy written in collaboration with Scandinavia’s foremost expert in marketing of hospitality and tourism, Professor Lena Mossberg. The book is now a standard in most hospitality management and design university educations throughout Scandinavia as well as business management literature for the industry. Erik is a frequent and prevalent lecturer on the subject of hospitality design and trends for both for the universities and the industry.

With his colleagues he has won recognition for the creation of several new hospitality brands and designs, some of them are: Bar of the year, Swedish Design Prize, The world hotel award, CNT hot list, European hotel design award. Year 2000 Erik was appointed the title Businessman of the year by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

Born in Oslo 1965, he graduated in Florence 1985 at the L'Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro, with a diploma in art, art history, marketing and design. Erik’s parallel career as an artist granted him several group exhibitions and one man shows through Europe and the US.

Apart from this he is a father of four, a former rock singer, ski jumper and loves a shot of tequila now and again.
